I've always held onto my country roots and I doubt you could make me change them. I once took a stupid survey test on MySpace (yes, its a sure way to procrastinate) and it shocked the hell out of me, when I looked back at my answers.
Ive been muddin--even with my parents! I can sing more than one of David Allen Coe, Charlie Daniels, Hank Williams Jr and Johnny Cash song, and I wore my cowboy boots everyday up until I outgrew them (Im currently saving to get another pair) and I even owned a lasso! I watch bull riding on a regular basis, it's my favorite show on ESPN, and am adding it on my list of things to do, to actually go see a real one.
Most kids start off singing Patty Cake, Patty Cake or If You're Happy and You Know It, Clap Your Hands. I grew up singing:
Swingin by John Anderson
Chattahoochee by Alan Jackson
There's a Tear in my Beer by Hank Williams
...and so many more.
Where I come from, we hunt deer AND EAT THEM. I used to make daddy bring home his deer heads for me to see them, and yes...I know what a big rack with a large spread looks like! Ooh yeah, and when you see a truck on the side of the road with an antenne hangin out the window...it means they're trackin dogs--where I come from, we put tracking collars on our dogs and dont come home until we've found them all.
No one has dances anymore, the kind that I remember from my childhood where Aunt B and Uncle Wally would pick me up and put me in the middle of them during the slow songs, or where I stood on daddy's feet and danced. My whole family knows how to flat-foot---I just cant find that rhythm!
Ive been on a tractor, flipped the 4 wheeler, and gone on a bigillion hayrides. I like stepping in mudpuddles and the sight of mud doesnt bother me. I used to have a bow and I did pretty damn good hittin my targets and for fun, we used to shoot soda cans with the bb gun.
I love the distinct smell of carhartt jackets and I miss wading in the creek with my overhauls on. Where I grew up, we rode in trucks....I actually fell out of the old Chevy at one point. Grandma and I used to gather eggs from the chicken on numerous occaisions and I was born on a farm---okay, I was born in the hospital but we lived on a farm my first year.
I miss fishin at Campbells farm with Daddy, Momma, Caleb and John. I caught my first crappy when I was 3 years old with my beginner snoopy reel and daddy made us try Copenhagen when we were little so we'd never touch the stuff as adults.
Ooh yeah, and it pisses me off when people associate that Confederate Flag with racism. Did you ever think it was as symbol of our pride of being Southern? I think everyone should have the right to own a gun. Sure, make the background checks a little more extensive, but dont kill off huntin just because it's "inhumane". Seriously, consider this...if there's no hunters, that means they'll be more deer to run out into the road and wreck you car. Food will get scarce and they might just die off anyway! So shut your mouth, atleast hunters can clearout the risk of overpopulation and feed their families at the same time!
I like sittin on the porch in the cold, country cranked up to loud and singin my heart out...and with my feet movin too! I need more country nights in my life! and yes, this is my idea of fun! I also love thunderstorms in the summertime and the smell of fresh rain is like heaven.
We used to go to the Monster Truck shows every year, and I think you're hot shit if you can play football. I tend to go to other sports and yell at our team to tackle someone :) Im a total whiskey girl, even if it makes me surf in the kitchen and dive under barbed wire fences.
Ooh yeah, and it's a life long dream of mine to go Cowtippin! You think, genuine redneck, I think...I wouldnt have life any other way.

I agree with you, you are definitely meant for the country. But don't worry, when I'm living my awesome city-life I'm not going to forget where i came from, and i will still call you often, so often you will be happy that I live hundreds of miles away.
